Reading LOST
|
This meetup will be a book group devoted to literary references in the TV show LOST on ABC. Although you don't have to be a LOST fan to join us on our literary journey, our selections will be entirely works of literature that have been woven into LOST's plot. This will include such meaty classics as Dickens' Our Mutual Friend and Dostoevsky's Brother's Karamazov. The group will also take on the more easily digestible Carrie by Stephen King and Phillip K. Dick's Valis. Our first book will be Catch 22 by Joseph Heller. As every devoted LOST fan knows, this book was found among the personal possessions of Naomi who parachuted onto the LOST island after-- so she claimed-- the helicopter she was in encountered lightening. We will sort out why the writers of the show referenced Catch 22 as well as discuss the book for what it is, a modern classic. Join us as we read LOST!!! Read together, die alone.

Reading LOST: Catch 22
Join us as we discuss Joseph Heller's Catch 22, the novel found in Naomi's knapsack. Why did the writers reference this particular novel? We plan to speculate on this and much more!
